I made an appointment at Camping World in Albuqurque to get new awning fabric, and a new compressor on my auxiliary braking system. I made this appointment Oct 1, but then I began to get the idea that I'd better call and make sure that the parts would be there when I came to the store.
Seven phone calls later, I finally got through to the fellow I was calling and he said" it won't be here, because I have to get the part number and order it, and you didn't pay in advance so we can not order it!
No one had told me that I needed to pay in advance, and I had been there in May and the service folks had got the part number at that time. They had told me that it would take 2 weeks to get the part in, and I had asked them to save all the information and that I would come back at the end of my summer working season and get the work done.
When the service rep told me that I needed to pay in advance, I gave him my info and then also asked him if the store keeps awning fabric in stock. He said that they have to order the fabric and then install it. He also said that they have to get the part numbers off the old awnings before they can order the fabric, and that they cannot order the fabric without prior payment and that the fabric comes in about 10 days!
So, I'm thinking that they were going to wait till I got there and keep me waiting about 10 days till the fabric came in. It made me steam a bit because if I had not asked these questions, that I would have had a very long wait while I had to spend many days in an RV park (at my expense) while they ordered parts. I have other appointments to keep and no extra money to pay the RV parks.
This same fellow kept telling me that he probably would NOT be able to get fabric for my awning hardware because the hardware was old. I finally agreed to let him order all new awnings rather than just the fabric. Later on the insurance adjuster told me that he would not be able to cover the hardware because I had OPTED to purchase all new hardware! The fellow at camping world did NOT tell the insurance adjuster that he had urged me to get the entire awning, instead of just the fabrics. The insurance adjuster didn't really believe me that I had been manipulated to get the entire awnings.
Throughout the entire process I began to realize that I was not liking the entire setup and that I could not trust the man at Camping World to give me good advice.
FRUSTRATION!
