A Move

Today I drove about 100 miles to Leasburg State Park, and will hope to be here  week or so.  I reserved a site for 4 days and hope a site becomes available after that.  This weekend, the park is fully booked. Therefore, I could not reserve a site for longer than 4 days.  After being here an hour or so, I decided to take my bike off the rack and take the dogs for some exercise.  Hera is getting more used to the bike.

HOWEVER, when we returned to the campsite, she got freaked by something and jerked herself lose and ran off through the desert.  I had to pursue her on foot!  She, being her royal highness, ignored me when I called, but did let me catch up with her after a while!

  1. Hope you can stay longer.

So glad Hera slowed down for you to catch her. I've heard people say you should run away from your dog calling it's name, but not sure that rule applies to Greyhounds.

    1. I've tried this trick, but my dogs are too smart for that!

  2. Poor darling. It sucks for the greyhound, especially if they're frightened of everything. I have one that is literally afraid of her shadow. But, we limit going and doing new stuff, as she is never going to be a "lets go and try new stuff" kinda girl.

I'm glad you caught the fraidy cat!

    1. Thanks Fizz, I agree that some get frightened more than others.

  3. Yikes, that must have been scary! Hope Hera gets over her nervousness eventually. Elliot is a bit like that, he can be walking and will see a plastic bag or something and freezes so I have to pick him up and walk past it - a little more difficult with a greyhound :)

    1. Maybe if I had a saddle I could ride her away from the area!

    1. The photo was taken by Patti, Karen!
I was worried about Hera getting bit by a rattlesnake while being lose!
We are riding every day with the bike now. Tell Steve I said thanks for the air.

  6. Oh, Hera, why do you scare your mom like that. We always use a harness for the scaredy cats greyhounds. They seem to be escape artists otherwise.
