Holidays!

Independence Day holiday weekend brought out all sorts of  folks to out state park.  We had the Hispanic families who were 30-40 people trying to squeeze into one campsite so that they could party together, all day and all night!  When they wanted to go to the wash house, the would walk en mass through the campsites on their way, and they of course walked their pit bull dogs also, so we had some complaints that they were scaring folks .

We had families who sneaked fireworks into the park and shot them off when the night got really dark, and my greyhounds were so frightened by the noise that they stood stock still staring at me and shaking until after the fireworks had ended.

  2. Your poor babies. Why are people so stupid??? Wonder what they would have thought had they started a fire.

Hope you have a good week.

    1. Thanks Sue! There's no accounting for why people do these things!

  3. We're pretty lucky! Our basement really muffles the sound and it's finished, so the dogs can all hang out down there in comfort. Bunny decided to sleep down there with Küster on Thursday night, which is our big fireworks night, but our town is pretty small and quiet. The rest of the weekend we didn't hear more than one or two others go off and the dogs had a pretty quiet, relaxing weekend.

    1. I've never lived in a place that had basements, so I can't imagine the quiet you described. I'm amazed that Bunny went to the basement without you!

  4. It was really, really loud here. We had fireworks on all sides of us. We are lucky because our dogs are not really scared of them.

    1. The two of mine are not as afraid of the noises as previous hounds I have had, but it is uncomfortable enough!

  5. I am really luck that my own personal dogs aren't afraid of fireworks. However, we have a houseguest who is. It makes me sad to see them so scared.

    1. Fear is an uncomfortable thing, isn't it?

  6. Doesn't it make you wonder how people can be so ignorant of fire restrictions and the well being of others to light off fireworks anyway? Glad everyone was able to cope, though I'm sure it wasn't pleasant for the pooches. I slept with earplugs myself on the 4th, because the popping goes on through the wee hours.
