A good idea!

A good idea!  What could this possibly be!?

If you have dogs, you might possibly have an idea...

You might have "perfect" dogs who this would not apply to...

Or you might have a much better solution to the situation...

What could I be referring to???

I am referring to the fact that my dogs have to do their nightly "duties" while it's dark outside.  I don't know if they mind going outside in the dark, but I mind letting them outside in the dark into our fenced area, or going outside with them in the darkness.

I have a "porch" light just above and to one side of the door of the motorhome, and it is wonderful to light up the yard.  If I remember to turn the light off after the dogs come back inside, then the light bulb doesn't run the batteries down. IF ...  it's the operative word!  Sometimes I am so involved in getting the two dogs to come inside and therefore quit letting the cold inside and the warmth outside, that I forget to turn off the porch light!

A few days ago, I learned that the industry of RVing has come up with a newbie...it's a porch light which is motion activated and LED, and daylight shutoff!  I bought one yesterday, so am installing it and hoping that it will turn on when the dogs go outside, light up the yard nicely and shut itself off after the dogs come back inside.  It's quite easy to install and then done!

A good idea!

  1. That looks nice - a good idea! I have something similar - but mine is a jerry-rigged two light thing that I've Velcroed onto the bottom of my awning arm. It's not half as pretty or clean looking as yours but it works. When we step outside they come on. But I always turn on the outside light, too, when we go out in the dark. And bring a flashlight. And I usually have about a dozen little LED lights in the ground around the campsite. You've seen them - The Runway. (Do you think I have a "thing" about lights? LOL) I like your new light, yes, great idea!

  2. That's a good idea. As I take my girls out on the leads, one has a torch attached in case I need more light.

Hope you have a nice weekend. Sue, Polly & Honey

  3. That sounds like a very good idea. You must have to think about things that may run your battery down that people who live in houses wouldn't even think about.

  4. We have been wanting to get one. Our neighbors have one and it really lights up the place. I have one of those head lamps that you wear on your head. Holding a flashlight and walking two dogs is just difficult for me.

  5. Good idea!!!!!! I like to go out after dark. There's more critters to chase. Mum says those torches you wear on your head are good too.

  8. We installed one right before this trip west. Forgot to put the instructions in on how to set it. So far, it mostly stays on. Trying to track down instructions on the net. They do make a nice light
