My greyhound babes have been full of "beans" lately.
I decided to let my greyhounds run, run, run in an unoccupied area of the desert.
They took off at a great clip and even though they were within eyesight most of the time, I was a nervous Mom.
By the time they came back, exhausted, and thirsty, I was way past ready for them to be back!
After returning to our site, Hera laid herself down in her dust bowl and didn't move for about an hour!
There is no way we could turn Scooter loose like that. She would be off hunting and never come home. Glad they were able to get rid of some of that energy and came home safe.
ReplyDeleteI surely understand those feelings!
DeleteI can't imagine letting my greys run free like that on purpose. Joey got loose once by accident in a blizzard and I felt extremely lucky that he came back to me.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a fenced yard at my house, and have a smallish fenced yard at my motorhome, but now they have to get running exercise some other way.
DeleteCrikey ..... how good is that??? I'd have loved to be there with them. What a great time they had, aye?? Mum worried about letting me off lead for runs when she first got me but she's quite relaxed about it now. I get to run EVERY day and I never go far and ALWAYS come back. You've just got to make sure it is a safe place for running I guess.
ReplyDeleteCharlie, I'm so glad that you told me your running experience. I feel better!
DeleteYou are brave to let them off. I'd be worried if they saw a critter, they'd be off and out of site so quickly.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely can't let my girls off.
Hope you have a fab Friday. Sue, Polly & Honey
Looks like they really enjoyed their mad half hour! Must be fun for them to stretch their legs. I can understand how nervous you must have been when they were away from you though.

The main reason I was nervous was that this is the first free run for Hera. Power has experienced it before!
