Milestones

I have a lot to be considering in thanking life for milestones:

Deb Dean is listed as a new blog follower.  Deb, thanks for being interested in my blog.

Also, I want to thanks everyone who has contributed to the 60,000+ page views.  Each time I see that information, I rejoice that I am sharing a bit with others, as they share with me!

This last fews days I have been celebrating my parents wedding anniversary from 1939.  They loved each other their entire adult lives and it's an honor to remember their anniversary

I finally finished appliquéing the top to the antique quilt that was began in 1920, by my mother's mother.

For the friends and "relatives" who contributed a shirt to the quilt, I thank you for it, and you will probably see your fabric in the photos!

Hera is a flirt!

Hera is a very loving girl!

When we have a visitor whom she likes, she really works to get them to love on her!

This lady is my neighbor, Sue!  She is a dog lover and Hera makes the most of her visit!

Weather changes everything

You might remember a few days ago when I posted about having fabric strips on the dog fence and the sewing machine in my yard.

Two days later, the wind came up and the fabric hanging on the fence caused the fence to blow over!

I had to pick up the fabric, stand up the fence, and THEN let the dogs outside!  I decided to reinforce the fencing with rebar driven into the ground, so I had this accomplished and thought I was fine.

But the wind got busy and blew everything down again!

So, I had to pick up all the fabric agin and I laid it over the arm of my yard chair, thinking I would be fine.

However, this morning I heard rain on my roof and realized that I had to get the sewing machine and fabric inside, so I rushed out into my yard in my pj's and picked up everything.  The fabric was damp and the sewing machine was wet.

In the above photo, you can see that I have a pile of fabric strips laid over the motorhome engine cover, and length of red fabric spread out to dry, and the sewing machine standing in it's case, but the lid left open for air drying.

So, as the title says, weather changes everything!

How do I do this?

This little wooden shelf is in my motorhome.  The wood edge is disconnected from the shelf itself at the right end(shown).

I tried glue, it didn't hold.  So I tried a small screw, and the wood split!  Then I remembered that my electric staple gun also used brads, so I decided to use that.  I found the package of brads, and worked on inserting them into the base of the staple gun, but there were no directions in the staple gun kit.  The bottom of the staple gun had the word "brad" along with an arrow, but I didn't know what that meant.  So I tried about four different ways to put the brads into the gun, and finally got one way to look usable, so I used the gun and it worked.  I put 3 brads into the wood.  The brads went into the wood  only about 3/4 of the way, so I got out my hammer and eased them all the way in.  So now I have this errand done!  Yippee!

Houndstooth

I love reading other's blogs, and I also like the imagination that they use in their names.  One of my favorite blog writers name is Houndstooth of Tails and Tales.

The name Houndstooth is very pleasing to my brain.  Therefore, I happened upon a shift that was made of houndstooth fabric, and I could not pass it by.  So now I can wear a shift with houndstooth pattern and think of Houndstooth, the author!

If you notice, Power is lying on the sofa sleeping, and the houndstooth fabric looks really good on his black and white fur colors...so, I found a one yard piece of upholstery houndstooth patterned fabric, and before cold weather I will have it made into a coat for Power!

So, thank you Houndstooth for inspiration!

Finagling fabric.

If you remember, I've been working on a plaid quilt called "Dad's Plaids"

I've been cutting the plaid shirts into strips for weeks. However, though I had the different shirt strips neatly folded and placed in plastic bags, I still could not find the different colors when I wanted to sew them together.

So this week I began to hang the strips on a clothes line.  Then I had to find a place to hang the clothesline so that they were accessible.

So I decided to hang the clothes lines on the dog fences!

So Yesterday the strips went on the clothes line.  Today the clothes lines went onto the dog fencing, and I put the sewing machine on my patio and began to sew more of the strips!
I'm hoping to get the strips sewn in the next weeks!

The purchase!

I wrote about the store which sells very lovely jackets, and asked the rhetorical question "Which jacket will I buy?"  I finally made up my mind and did the deed a couple days ago!

I decided on a denim jacket.  The lady who designs them puts all kinds of "bling" on them, and that appeals to me.

The sun was so hot that I didn't want to do the photo again, so it's not so good!

The fabric used in these items is such high quality that it's hard for me to describe!

more errands

I needed to repot some cacti for my motorhome.

I had to buy a small bag of potting soil.

The one above is one of my favorites.  It is called a "split rock".

I decided to repot many of these cacti due to the large box that they were potted in being so very heavy to maneuver.  Now they are repotted into plastic shoe boxes.

Greyhound scares

My greyhound babes have been full of "beans" lately.
I decided to let my greyhounds run, run, run in an unoccupied  area of the desert.

They took off at a great clip and even though they were within eyesight most of the time, I was a nervous Mom.

By the time they came back, exhausted, and thirsty, I was way past ready for them to be back!

After returning to our site, Hera laid herself down in her dust bowl and didn't move for about an hour!

Errands day

I wish that things wouldn't break!

Yesterday I discovered that the latch on my screen door was completely broken and useless.  Luckily I am within one mile of an RV part store so I was able to buy another latch for $13.50 and install it.

I also needed to replace my clothes pins, which broke when my baby, Hera decided that they would be great toothpicks!  I use the clothespins to hang a solar shade cloth from my large awning when the sun is too warm or hot!

Wonderful sights

I love nature in most all of it's forms, and am constantly watching for interesting sights.

The photo below shows a red tailed hawk sitting on her nest by the highway.

New life is being incubated!

Rock a bye Baby

My neighbor recently made this quilt for her granddaughter's doll.  She made every stitch by hand.

Crisma is my neighbor's name and she would bring out the fabric for the quilt, all cut into these tiny pieces, and stored in a metal tin.  She would sew  during the time that we would sit in the sunshine around the fire ring.

Isn't it adorable?

So, I say "Rock a bye, Baby!"

I really enjoy the ways that different people spend their time while boon docking in the Quartzsite desert!  I feel like I learn something new from each person I  meet.

Internet woes, followers, and spring

On the day that the RV tent opened here in Quartzsite AZ, I started having big difficulty getting onto the internet on my desktop computer.  After a couple of days of no contact with my blogging buddies I was feeling really unsettled, so I decided to pull out my old laptop and see if I could get on with it.  It worked fine and whew was I glad that I could get to my buddies' blogs to see what's happening in their lives.

Now the tent is gone and so are many of the people who were camped here for the tent.  I was surprised that I still cannot get onto the internet with my desktop computer.  My laptop is working fine to get me online, however.

The whole thing makes me wonder if the signals were being crowded by all the folks in the area...do any of you understand this phenomenon?

Since the blogger fest, I have noted a few new followers on my blog site.  Today, I an welcoming Jan Mains, Jim and Sandy, and Stella and Rory from Down Under.

I met Jan Mains at the blogger fest, and the main reason I remember her is that she had a broken heel bone and was using a knee walker to move around.  The nurse in my heart made me ask about her foot and the walker and etc.  She was so nice in explaining about her injury! She has a blog, named "Bill and Jan RVing the USA."

Jim and Sandy wire a blog named Where are the Dixons today?

Stella and Rory are two dogs in South Australia.  Rory is a Dane with a fascinating medical history.

Rock a bye , baby

I recently made a pillow to go on my sofa for the dogs!

Power knew immediately what it was and that I made it just for him!
