A remote cabin has bird feeders, and welcomes birders to sit on the porch and enjoy the different species. Several birders had cameras and were taking photos. I was one of them.

Black headed grosbeak |
I was told that my dogs would be welcome on a less crowded day, so maybe another time! Maybe if they binoculars around their necks no one would realize that they are dogs!

Acorn Woodpecker |
The acorn woodpecker is the species that Walt Disney used as inspiration for Woody Woodpecker!
Welcome to a new follower, Shiela Wedegis. Shiela, hope you enjoy the blog!
I'd sure like to see one of those woodpeckers again.
ReplyDeleteI keep expecting to make the Woody Woodpecker sound!
DeleteLovely birds. We have a grosbeak here, but it's not the same colouring. We also have Woodpeckers, but not like that one.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
That Acorn Woodpecker is a new one for me - he's beautiful. I think woodpeckers are one of my favorites because they are so different and so hard to photograph. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Acorn Woodpeckers! I didn't realize the Woody connection, but that surely fits! I have a great memory of birding Ramsey Canyon in southern AZ and spotting a pair of Elegant Trogons. But I've never made it to Portal--I hear it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an acorn woodpecker until this. How fun!
ReplyDeleteI love to watch Birds! Would love to go some place like that and photograph the different species. They are so beautiful.
