When I first saw them, I thought I would never learn how to identify them because they were so plain. But when they extend their wings, I saw the markings and decided that it looked like a "W" and realized I could associate it with the word "willit".
They look so cute! We don't have anything like that around here!
ReplyDeleteAccording to my research, they migrate through your part of the continent on their way north.
DeleteIt's a matter of seeking out water to watch for them!
I'm glad that you liked them!
I enjoy birdwatching and hadn't heard of willits or the ones in your previous post. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteYour brain is becoming more aware (with each sighting) of the wonders of birds. Glad you liked the photos!
DeleteThe birds in flight sure look different - beautiful wings with a large span.

DeleteLovely, they are similar to our Godwits.
ReplyDeleteGodwits are beautiful too. I love shorebirds!
DeleteHave never seen this bird before--they are beautiful, especially in flight.
