A rainy day !

Today is a very rainy day.  We haven't had much rain this winter, so the rain is welcome.  The rain means clouds and clouds means no solar gain for our batteries!
Grey skies!

So today I've been using my generator a good bit.  The generator is misbehaving a bit, however, and I've had it to the generator repairman twice already.  I was supposed to take it back last Wednesday but he got sick and so my repair is on hold!  Monday I'm supposed to take it in again, so I guess I will know Monday am whether he is feeling better or is still ill.

The problem with the generator is that it will charge for a little while and then turn off the electric mechanism, but leave the motor running.  So I have to keep my microwave door open all the time so that I can watch for the electric light going off, in order to tell me if the generator is still making electricity!  I usually have to restart the generator every 15-30 minutes in order to get the electricity working again, and thus charge the batteries.

In addition I have been needing to keep the propane blue flame heater on to keep the motorhome warm.  With the warmth from the heater, it made the motorhome a comfy place.

I've been working on the quilting of my antique quilt and it's my first time to actually do the quilting as opposed to the piecing and the appliquéing.  I'm really finding it a challenge. I have never actually done "quilting" before.

My cat likes to get into the middle of my lap when I'm working!
When Chica is on my lap, all work stops!

Isn't she a doll?

  1. I see a faint rainbow in that cloud photo.
I will do a little hand quilting but it is not my most favorite part of quilting.

  3. I haven't done much hand quilting myself, but from what I can see, you're doing just fine! That is a very pretty quilt, Hazel. So happy you're working on restoring and finishing it.

Good luck with the generator next week.

  5. Yup.. it's been kinda cold and damp at night... nice to have the blue flame heater to help out. At least we have electric at this campground so we have been using an electric Lasko heater and saving our propane. Might get down to 32 tonight! arrghhh
