Hera is providing a distraction for me while getting over Fleur's death. Also, Power's wonderful happy go lucky nature has come back and he is so entertaining, to say the least. He is what I call a "big time tail wagger" and he wags his tail so widely and so energetically, that it hits one side of the motorhome and then the other side! Whap-whap-whap! When Fleur was still alive, she would often stand and squint while Power's tail brushed across her face!
Fleur denied squinting! |
I sit up high when Power is whapping his tail! |
Why not whap my tail? I'm a happy guy! |
I am again wanting to thank everyone who wrote comments to me about Fleur's passing. It was such an encouragement to me and helped me get through those dark days! Some folks told me that I should not get another greyhound due to my bad back, but I felt that I would survive better with the distraction, and someone to love. So, thanks to all my friends!
Lovely photos of your fur babies.
ReplyDeleteHope Power's whapping doesn't cause any damage to his tail. I've heard of a lot of Greys who have had to have some or all of the tail taken off.
Hope you have a lovely day. Polly & Sue
Sue, I never knew that some greyhounds damaged their tail! Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteHazel, I did not read posts when I stopped blogging for awhile this summer. I did not realize until this post that Fleur had died--I just thought you got a Hera as an additional member to your family. I'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily!
DeleteBoth of mine have been the victims of getting hit with the other's tail. LOL I'm glad to hear that Power is happy again. One of the reasons we adopted Joey so soon after Jack's passing is because Scout was sad.
ReplyDeletePatty, I appreciate you sharing this with me. It's helpful to learn of other's experiences!
DeleteI love the photos of your happy family - it's nice when everything is going well. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I'd get another Greyhound after my first one passed, but that didn't last long. And getting Bunny was the best thing I did to help me move past Treat's death. She was never a replacement for Treat, but, she was a great distraction, and she filled a place in me that needed filling. I'm so glad you liked the post about the pet cemetery. I grew up on a farm and we always buried pets there as I grew up. That was one of the things that really bothered me when my dad sold the farm last year, if I'm honest.
ReplyDeleteFlattery wags like Power does. The bad thing is that the very end of her tail was broken at some point, either from her happy wagging or getting it caught in a door and now there's the little knot at the end of it. Getting whipped by her tail will literally bring you to tears!
