Storm defender

Dr Suzanne Stack, who is a veterinarian in Yuma AZ, has a web site in which her medical articles are available to be utilized. She specialized in greyhounds for many years and was a racetrack veterinarian also.

I checked the greythealth website for any information she might give on thunderstorm phobia. She mentioned the Storm Defender cape.  http://www.greythealth.com/thunder.html

I decided to order one and hopefully get more comfort for Fleur.

Yesterday, while at work, Fleur started getting that nervous and shaking state that usually precedes a thunderstorm.

The cape upon being first worn. Fleur couldn't stop pacing and staring.

I put the Storm defender cape on her and she calmed immediately and stayed calm and relaxed all afternoon.

The whole afternoon was like this !

The storm was light so I feel that this was a poor trial. As soon as we have another storm I will report on the Storm Defender cape!

  2. So hope this works, looking forward to your review. It's such a difficult thing to watch an animal go through thunder terrors! We usually end up with a very bad Pee on the floor or worse on the bed!

    1. My dogs have not peed any time but otherwise it is so unsettling for them and me.

  3. I hope it continues to work for her. Jack was scared of storms. A vet at a greyhound event told us to put a t-shirt on him and tie it around this waist. Did I tell you this? I know I have told several people. It worked for him. Eventually, he didn't need it.

Storms are scary in a house, but in a RV they can be so LOUD. It scares me too. LOL

  4. We use the Thundershirt, which is similar, but none of our dogs have serious issues with storms, fortunately! I'm glad it's working for Fleur! :)

  5. I am SO glad you seem to have found a solution for poor Fleur! Pretty amazing how that works. It's curious how storms affect the dogs so completely differently otherwise.
